SO tis too late to change anything, but I would like some opinions on my scholarship essay.
It's based off of Dr. Suess' "Oh the Places You'll Go!" book and can be no longer than 500 words.
"All I can do, Fighting With Myself- Not with You"
-original work by Fume
Having knowledge of everything is one thing I can’t show. For someone like me, you could say that I’ve won, being a jack of all traits- but master of none. Yet, it’s only the basics that I really know. I’ve seemed to be decent at everything, but never really have I excelled at just one. And so, in Dr. Seuss’ “Oh the Places You’ll Go,” I have found that it really inspires me to search high and low for the things that I love, and fight for accomplishments in the arena mentioned above.
As a student that suffers with hypoglycemia, and a fainting disorder, there are a lot of daunting tasks that I seem to be incapable to get over. For me these such feats- ones that require stamina and even physical meets, are my “Bang-ups and Hang-ups” I understand that I cannot accomplish everything, but I can still go far- looking at things as they really are. I have even found that out in high school- and will no doubt have to later fight these same adversities- no matter how cruel- and when life, she kicks sand in my face, it’s my talents that I will have to show her. But with this comes a responsibility, because some of my biggest adversaries are the ones that I face with health- and it makes it hard to want to keep playing when it’s “Games can’t win ‘cause [I’m playing myself]” It is the times like these when I’m at my lowest of lows, that I have to keep going, even when my opponents hit with harder and harder blows.
The longer and longer I try to stand on my two feet, the more and more problems I always seem to meet. Somehow though, I will get through those too- And I can never let them get me to stay blue. Because I can do something- something grand and great- something that I can accomplish, with something better than fate. For when I show it, and I bring the heat, all the others will find they themselves are beat. What is it you ask, that puts me a cut above the rest? A passion to learn, and a passion to smile is what gets me so far, though it make take others a while. I don’t like to be sad, or ignorant or have detest, and will always be true to myself when striving for the best. I want to be given the chance to go the extra mile, for when I do something I do it so high above the standard, so that the rest look vial.
So give me the chance, to try and succeed, and you won’t be sorry “98 ¾ percent guaranteed.”
