Okay, normally I try to stay IC for everything, even information sections(something I’m sure some of you hate me for), but I need to say a few things OOC for the character creation, and clarification before you begin. And I’m sorry if this is long and boring, but I request you read it.
First of all, when you make a character, please don’t make a god or ungodly character. Something I personally hate about RP sites is the tendency to act like your character is all knowing, please refrain from that.
Secondly, for student submission, your character needs room to grow. This site’s “plot” is a search for the truth. For your character to get into Epitasis Academy, they have to be questioning something, whether it be life, morality, death, or emotions. They have to have something plaguing their minds that they desperately need answered. So, this site almost requires your character be in need of growth when created, and something on that questioning, no matter how slight, needs to be in your bio.
Third, this site takes place in a school year cycle but for the role-playing sake, breaks will be only a few days. As unrealistic as it is. And the weather, despite being in Texas, is strangely cold in the winter, including frequent snow. Kinda unimportant facts, but just a heads up
Fourth, your character’s intrest in the search for the truth can vary, but they have to look for it at least a little. I don’t mean to force it on you, but this site is half role-playing, half a game. If your character doesn’t play, it really doesn’t help the site. On that note, it also plays into the acceptance in the academy, since they have to want the answer.
Which leads into the last major point on student characters. This school is dark, in a figurative sense. Paranoia tends to run wild in this school, and at night things are never as they appear. And the school almost promotes brutality and control. Whatever it takes to control them is allowed, I would provide examples, but I want creativity and don’t want to broadcast anyone’s ideas.. For that reason, the students should be reluctant to help each other. Everyone wants the answer, but the Voice that talks through the last page of every students manual, basically tells you that everyone is against you, and only a few can find the answer. So no school wide alliances to find the answer. Not trying to control your character, but for the sake of the RP, work with me on this. Friends, of course. Lovers, if you wish. Allies, fine. Large organized groups, no.
The next thing I need to talk about is special rules for Ghosts and Teachers/Faculty. These applications MUST be PM’d to the admins. To make the game more interesting, the teachers and ghost’s histories will be kept secret from other players. Should your spirit or Teacher be accepted, you will be PM’d a few clues to the answer. DO NOT SPREAD THESE CARELESSLY. If your character is accepted for these two options, we are trusting you to try to improve the game. If someone wants the hints a spirit or teacher holds, they have earn it in a thread, and it shouldn’t be easy. After you are accepted, you will be given the password to the appropriate board, and allowed to look at other Spirits/Teachers.
As for the Last page of the Manual. That is basically your encyclopedia for your character and yourself. How it works is like this, when you start, your character has instant access to the encyclopedia, yet, you must call out the items you wish to know about. So, while you, as a player, might know the items within it, your character will not. You start out with a few that automatically pop up the first time you read it, which are given to you by the voice. After that, most will be written by other players who find out more about the academy. If you are the first one to discover something, it is requested you write an entry for the Last Page. While not required, and you are trying to win for yourself, this one thing we request you do an honor system for. You write it for others, and they write it for you. The Voice might present the Academy with a few more ‘gifts’ later, but that should be rare.
Now, as for a bit more detail on the plot. Your job is basically to look for the ‘answer’. Which might seem vague at first, so I will give you a hint. I am not talking about an idea or philosophy, though your character is probably looking for that. It is an item, person or place.
